Accelerating Gender Parity: Mobilizing the Private Sector and Empowering Communities for Inclusive and Sustainable Environments in Jordan project aims to advance gender equality and women’s participation in Jordan’s workforce. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, BPWA, in collaboration with USAID Makanati, has led a comprehensive effort to mobilize the private sector, challenge societal norms, and address cultural barriers that hinder women’s economic engagement.
This initiative is part of BPWA’s broader role as the local coordinator for the World Economic Forum's Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator (CGGA). By leveraging its influence and expertise, BPWA has worked with 50 companies across Jordan to foster more inclusive workplaces, encourage equitable policies, and champion women’s empowerment through innovative and scalable solutions. The project has unfolded in five key phases, from initial design and stakeholder engagement to nationwide implementation, capacity development, and impactful celebrations that inspire further action.
Aligned with Makanati’s core values to Recognize, Communicate, Act, and Inspire, this initiative reflects a human-centric, creative approach to breaking barriers and enabling women’s dignified participation in the private sector. By working collaboratively across sectors, the ""We Empower Her to Work"" project demonstrates the potential to create lasting change and promote a more equitable and prosperous society for all.

Project Outcomes

Strategic Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement:
- Conducted a comprehensive revision of the stakeholder mapping outlined in the Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator action plan, ensuring precision and alignment with project objectives.
- Identified and engaged 100 potential private sector companies, focusing on implementing Action 05 to drive women’s inclusion and sustainable workplace practices under the ""We Empower Her to Work"" initiative.
Streamlined Gender Gap Assessment Tool:
- Refined and simplified BPWA’s Gender Mainstreaming Tool, enhancing its accessibility and practical applicability for organizations.
- Successfully completed a Gender Gap Assessment for 50 companies, providing actionable insights to promote gender equality in their workplaces.
Nationwide Launch of Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator: Launched an informative online campaign aimed at reaching 100K individuals, boosting awareness and engagement for gender equality in the workforce.
Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Workshop: Hosted a 2-day workshop, bringing together 53 senior managers, HR leaders, and diversity officers from 40 companies, alongside 16 representatives from 10 champion companies with a proven track record in promoting gender-inclusive practices.
Inclusive HR Policy Reforms: Facilitated HR policy reforms for 9 companies, ensuring the implementation of inclusive practices that support women’s advancement in the workplace.
HR Capacity Building for Sustainability: Delivered a half-day HR capacity-building session, attended by 19 representatives from 17 companies, equipping HR professionals with tools for fostering inclusive environments.
HR Café Knowledge Exchange: Conducted 7 HR café sessions with 137 HR professionals, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and practical solutions for improving gender diversity in the workplace.
Local Business Case Development: Developed a local business case showcasing the impact of gender-inclusive environments, driven by champion companies, to inspire broader adoption of best practices across the private sector

EDUFLEX
Implemented flexible, family-friendly policies post-program. Over 90% of staff are women. Remote work and inclusive policies improved loyalty and performance.

Hyperpay
Shifted from women-only focus to full inclusion. New feedback and engagement practices boosted satisfaction and team performance.

Nafith
Introduced gender diversity in logistics. Female employment rose to 3% in Aqaba. Women now take part in technical roles and overseas programs.

Formalized inclusive hiring and leadership practices. Policies and training created a fairer, more aware work environment.
