The Business and Professional Women Association – Amman (BPWA) was established in 1976 by a group of pioneering women. The Business and Professional Women Association – Amman (BPWA) is a non-profit dedicated to opening pathways and creating platforms for women in business to move beyond barriers and utilize their unique energies, talents, and capabilities to make a difference.
The Association is an affiliate of the Geneva-based International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International), one of the most prominent international networks with affiliates in 95 countries in five continents. The Federation also has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), as well as participatory status with the Council of Europe. Through BPW International, the BPWA is connected to a global network of business and professional women’s federations and clubs.
Since its establishment, the BPWA has solidified its position as a local leader in leveraging key partnerships to create and implement highly successful projects aimed at increasing Jordanian women’s employability and economic participation rates. These include the “Call Center”, "From Home", "Young Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Training Series”, “Creating Sustainable Modules to Empower Young Women Entrepreneurs: How to Start Your Own Business" as well as the new Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and UNIDO “Promoting Women Empowerment for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development in the MENA Region”.
In response to the latest research and to our members' feedback, the BPWA relaunched in 2015 with a stronger focus on young female SME owners in Jordan’s fast growth sectors and competitive industries. This support takes the form of sector-specific networking, targeted long term mentorship, business management training and business support services that our members' business vitally need to grow and thrive.
